Mom of Atlanta Hospital Shooting Suspect Blames Medication

Writer: Bob SchwartzBob Schwartz

A suspect, Deion Patterson, has been taken into custody after he allegedly opened fire in a hospital waiting room in Atlanta, killing one woman and leaving five others injured. Patterson had a previous appointment at the outpatient facility on the 11th floor of Northside Hospital and became enraged for unknown reasons, later fleeing the scene and carjacking a white pickup. He was taken into custody by Cobb County police after a manhunt. Patterson's mother, Minyone Patterson, stated that her son was on medication and just needed Ativan. The motive for the shooting is still unknown. One of the victims was an employee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
